How does Orbit work for Healthcare?
The Orbit Cloud for Healthcare is a secure area within a private cloud, created exclusively to upload, transfer and share protected healthcare, insurance and financial services information. Its technical safeguards help us meet our obligations under the HIPAA Security Rules.
How does Orbit use Orbit Cloud Storage?
Orbit Imaging uploads patient imaging files to Orbit Cloud Storage. When you refer a patient to us, we will send you an email notification advising when records are available online for 24/7 access. To minimize risk to sensitive patient data, Orbit will phase out providing patient records on CD, unless specifically requested. Please note that you have the ability to provide secure access to individual patient records to the patient or to other practitioners that may require this information.
How can your dental practice use Orbit?
When you use Orbit Imaging as your imaging service provider, Orbit creates a secure user account for your office and training on how to use the system. As an additional value-added service, Orbit stores all of your patient imaging files and reports, and provides unlimited access, at no charge for one year from the date of patient imaging. Orbit offers a cost-effective annual subscription service for practitioners that would prefer to keep their patient records archived and accessible via the Orbit Cloud Storage indefinitely. Using custom login credentials, your office has secure access to AES 256-bit, encrypted patient files and large, high resolution images at any time on both desktop and mobile platforms (tablets and smart phones). Security and compliance
Orbit’s Cloud Storage system engages periodic assessment by an independent third party, Sword & Shield Enterprise Security, Inc. to ensure that its systems – and your patient files – are fully compliant with HIPAA. Strict Orbit employee protocols are also imposed and employee activity reports are monitored by the company.
